DOT Drug and Alcohol Reasonable
Suspicion for Supervisors per 49 CFR
382 and 40 Train your supervisors to help keep impaired drivers off the road!
According to 49 CFR §382.603, all persons designated to supervise drivers must
receive at least "60 minutes of training on alcohol misuse and 60 minutes on
controlled substance abuse." This course will help satisfy those
requirements!
The Department of
Transportation requires any supervisor who sends or refers employees for drug and/or alcohol testing under a DOT certified drug testing program become trained in the administration and implementation of these procedures.
Typically, any driver who drives either local or over the road must have an
initial drug and alcohol screen. These same employees are required to be part of
a random testing plan that is managed by the company or a Third Party
Administrator (TPA). This training program will ensure the supervisor develops
and maintains a complete testing program while limiting the company's legal and
regulatory exposure affiliated with these type of activities.
Upon completion of this course, students will: -
Understand the need for employee education about alcohol and
substance abuse in the workplace and;
-
Identify the indicators of alcohol and substance abuse in yourself or others
and;
- Examine the different tests and requirements of DOT regulations for alcohol and controlled substance use.
