The DOT Hazardous Materials Labeling and Placarding
Seminar is a one-day training course
designed to meet The Department of Transportation (DOT) training requirements under 49 CFR 172.704
According to regulations, any individual who is
involved in offering a hazardous material for transport must be properly trained.
After the initial training, employees must undergo refresher training every 3 years or when regulations
substantially change. Employees may not perform hazardous materials functions unsupervised until the training has been completed. According to DOT standards, anyone involved in selecting a package, marking a container, applying a label, preparing paperwork (e.g. Bills of Lading, Manifests etc. ) or handling a hazardous material is required to receive this training.
